What Moms Want for Mother’s Day

What Moms Really Want for Mother's Day

Mother’s Day is around the corner, and there are aisles full of colorful and bright greeting cards.

I don’t like greeting cards as much as I loathe picking one out for somebody.

There are too many options, and for the most part, they are overpriced.

Usually, I purchase a card that plays music so that I feel I’ve gotten my money’s worth.

I want many other things for Mother’s Day, and the harsh reality is that a manufactured, overpriced greeting card isn’t at the top of the list.

Of course, I love anything my children and husband give me, and I will humbly accept any greeting card with a smile.

I love the homemade and handwritten notes or artwork my kids make.

Before you go out and spend a lot of money and time thinking about the perfect gift for Mom, keep it simple and refer to a list of activities or gifts that most moms would love to have.

What Moms Really Want for Mother’s Day

  1. A Nap or a good night’s sleep
  2. A back rub
  3. A Hug or pat on the back for a job well done.
  4. A nice, warm bath or shower where I can shave my legs
  5. The ability to watch a movie in its entirety or a trip to the movie theatre to watch a chick flick
  6. A delicious meal cooked by someone other than myself
  7. A pedicure or, better yet, a trip to the Spa
  8. 30 minutes of silence to meditate and hear my thoughts
  9. A haircut
  10. A bottle of my favorite wine
  11. A sneak peek preview of Magic Mike XXL. (he, he)
  12. A maid to clean the house and clean it well
  13. A homemade or handwritten card, poster, or piece of art from my family
  14. It’s time to cuddle and snuggle with my loved ones and not feel guilty about it because the dishes are mounting.
  15. A happy and healthy household
  16. A fancy Starbucks drink
  17. Nothing at all because I already have what I have always wanted: a happy and healthy home, and I couldn’t be more thankful!
  18. Who am I kidding? Ok, maybe I would like something small for Mother’s Day –  At least get me chocolate!

In conclusion, I don’t look forward to the bright and flashy card on Mother’s Day—I crave the “Hallmark” moments that special cards promise to deliver.
