If your child really wants a job, talk to them about what an employer is going to expect over the summer. Most jobs in our tiny town for students require the student to show up 5 days a week, to work an 8hr shift, to arrive on time. If your child does not think they can handle a job as such, then they’d be great for being an entrepreneur, inventing their own business (yard work) and their own hours.
We’ve had openings at our work place year round but currently we can not find students that want to “give up their summer” in order to work that many hours (sadly this also includes all the uni students that have been interviewed)
GOOD LUCK in your adventures. Remember that each job you try is a road map to find what you are good at and what you’d want to do as a career and all experience is useful.
