Christmas is probably your kids’ favorite day of the year. Opening gifts together on Christmas morning brings joy to the whole family and it is a perfect bonding opportunity.

But why buy your presents when you can create your own thoughtful DIY Christmas gifts, together with your kids? Besides being more affordable, it engages your little ones in fun and productive activities, so give them a go with these super-easy craft ideas.

Jewelry

Jewelry making with your kids can start from a young age and even your teenagers will enjoy this fun activity. Your girls can make colorful earrings for their friends and your boys can craft a beautiful pearl bracelet for nana.

Besides allowing your kids to express themselves creatively, their unique creations would make for one-of-a-kind gifts, appropriate for anyone. Although this activity requires you to purchase a jewelry-making kit and a few supplies, it is a hobby which your kids can continue even after the holidays are over.

Snow Globes

If you are looking for a fun but a low-mess gift idea to make with your kids, the mason jar snow globes are the perfect solution. You will need a hot glue gun, some artificial snow, a figurine of your choice (Santa toy, small Christmas tree) and a ribbon for décor.

Pour some artificial snow into the mason jar, glue your figurine to the lid of the jar, close it and that’s it. Quick and easy to make, these creative snow globes would make for beautiful window displays at your friend’s house or a lovely décor piece for auntie’s mantel.

Goodie Bag

Kids love sweets and they will probably love making them also. Suitable for kids of all ages, goodie bags make for great Christmas presents for family members, friends and even teachers. Prepare homemade chocolates or cookies together with your kids and wrap them up nicely.

All you need is some cellophane or cute food boxes to store and wrap the treats, colorful ribbon for a festive touch and something to decorate your gift with. You can use any decoration you like, just let your kids get creative and have fun.

Homemade Body Scrub

Appropriate even for the pickiest teenager, homemade body scrubs would be great gifts for your daughter’s besties, for your kids’ teachers and even for grandma. Although it takes less than 15 minutes to make, it might get a bit messy, but it’s fun.

You will need some sugar, olive oil and a few drops of your favorite essential oils for a delightful scent.  Mix all your ingredients in a bowl until you are happy with the result and add them to clean mason jars. Use ribbons for decoration and you’re all set.

Photo Frame

We all have a few pictures we love to display in our home and what a better way to do so than with a DIY photo frame? You will need some wooden sticks (you can use recycled ice-cream sticks) a hot glue gun and some carboard. So, next time you receive your Amazon package, don’t throw the box away.

Instead, use it to create cute photo frames with your kids. Cut a piece of cardboard to the desired size, glue on your wooden sticks to create the frame and add buttons, shells or puzzle pieces to decorate your creation. We guarantee that grandma and grandpa, teachers, and friends will appreciate this handmade gift.

Tile Coasters

Encourage your little ones to get as creative as they want and experiment together with this artsy, but practical, gift for the home. This activity requires very few resources but a lot of creativity. All you need are basic white tiles and some permanent markers and that’s it.

It takes around 15-20 minutes to make, depending on the complexity of the design and even your two-year-old will have fun making this gift.
