One of the best things about homeschooling is that you aren’t snapping a picture of your kids as they climb on the bus, but can create your own Homeschooling First Day Traditions.
That’s without a doubt my favorite part of homeschooling.

Homeschooling First Day Traditions
Some traditions you might want to start with your kids this year:
All About Me
This is really going to be fun!
I want to have each kid write several things on a piece of paper and put them in the front of their school year binder (we are required to keep a portfolio):
- Favorite game to play
- Favorite color
- Favorite book
- Favorite meal
- Favorite toy
- Favorite holiday
- Favorite subject in school
- Another state (or country) they would like to visit
- Their signature
All really fun things that must likely change year to year, and I think are fun to look back on as they grow up.
Party
Here the pools don’t close until a week or so after school starts.
Why not head to the pool now that all the public school kids are back in school?
If you are a part of a homeschool group, then find out if there is interest and plan a party for everyone!
You could make it an annual event so the kids will have a fun event to look forward to every year with their friends.
If you don’t want to plan a group activity, just make it a family event. I’m sure the kids would love it either way.
Big Breakfast
Start the big day off with a big breakfast.
Get fancier than toast or cereal.
Maybe make some waffles, have some fresh berries for on top with whipped cream, I am drooling over here now!
