5 Tips for Helping Mom De-stress

Moms, we are the hub of our household trying to juggle it all. It is a demanding 24/7 job. Running after kids, driving to and from activities, making meals, homework and cleaning house can sure be stressful.

Wouldn’t it be nice to get an afternoon off? Moms deserve a break but sometimes that’s not always possible to get out of the house. Get creative! Helping mom de-stress is important. After all when mom is happy so is the whole family. 

5 Tips For Helping Mom De-stress 


Get moving – Exercise is great for everyone. It keeps your energy up and feeling great. When going to the gym is not possible you can workout to a DVD or a episode on demand. Most cable companies offer these for free. There are different levels and activities to choose from. I especially enjoy the yoga videos, my kids do it with me making for 30 to an hour of fun for everyone.

Schedule downtime – We all need down time including the kids. If your kids nap that creates instant downtime for mom. It gets a bid more challenging for non napping kids. Each afternoon we do something I call room time. It’s 30 mins of the kids in their rooms playing quietly. They read books, do puzzles or something that doesn’t make alot of noise. It gives me a chance to work on dinner, read a part of a book or watch a show.

Create a spa at home – Usually a moms shower is all of 5 minutes if you were able to take one that day. Investing in some nice body wash or body scrub can make you feel like a million bucks. If you have the time after the kids go to bed a hot bubble bath is another great way for moms to destress. Through on a face mask and soak with a good book or some light music will make you feel like your at the spa.

Wake up before the kids – I know this one is not for everyone but if it is feasible it’s a great time for moms to clear their head for the day. Sit down with a cup of coffee or tea before anyone else gets up. Reading, making your to do list for that day or just thinking while its quiet can make your day run smoother.

Find a hobby – What do YOU enjoy? it could be gardening, baking or crafting. It doesn’t matter what it is as long as you enjoy doing it for you. Take time to do something you are passionate about for you.
