Tis the Season for parents searching for the Best Outdoor Activities to do with Kids this Summer.
As the temperatures begin to rise, so does the population of kids out of school for the summer months.
Given all of today’s modern technology, often parents struggle to find fun, outdoor activities for their children.
From a traditional standpoint, a neighborhood park is a great place to start, but sometimes kids tire of the same equipment and playthings over time.
Since summer has just begun, here’s our top ten list of some of the best outdoor activities we can do with our kids this summer:
Table of Contents
Up With Flower Power
Boys and girls of all ages enjoy picking flowers and this is a great teaching opportunity.
Join your youngster when they’re searching for flora and point out some flower-related knowledge to them during the process.
Chalk It Up
An inexpensive box of chalk along with a driveway or sidewalk make an excellent, impromptu canvas for creative kids.
Draw along with them while they showcase their artistic talents.
There’s even a recipe for glow-in-the-dark chalk available online.
And Clean It Up
After they’ve displayed their pieces for a few days, it’s also enjoyable to wash their projects away.
Grab a bucket and some soap and wash the family car at the same time.
Then Soak It Up
Now that the auto is clean, it’s time for some good, old-fashioned fun in the sun with the hose.
Grab a sprinkler and a lawn chair and check them out while they’re running through the watery waves.
Slip On It
Even if you don’t have a traditional slip-and-slide, a plastic tarp or sheet will work in a pinch.
Adding a little bit of dish soap helps to make the surface even slippier.
Sleep On It
After the sun goes down, enjoy a night outdoors with the little ones roasting marshmallows and sleeping under the stars.
Depending on where you live, some insect repellent may be in order.
Paint It
Painting doesn’t need to be reserved purely as an indoor activity since there’s plenty of surfaces available outdoors.
Paint isn’t the only medium little hands can use since mud also works on a brush and is usually readily available in almost any yard.
Watch It
Watching movies is another activity that can be easily moved outdoors whether it involves temporarily relocating the set in our living room or putting up a sheet and using a projector.
Make up a big batch of popcorn for snacking during the family-friendly flick.
Make It Old Fashioned
Enjoy a nostalgic game of tag or hide-and-go-seek with the kids outdoors.
Other classics include hopscotch, jump rope and Simon Says.
Board It
When it’s windy, fly a kite, but if there isn’t much of a breeze outside, take a favorite family board game outdoors.
Before enjoying these outdoor activities with your children, don’t forget the sunscreen, which needs to be reapplied every two hours.
It also takes about fifteen minutes to properly absorb before heading outside.
So be sure to protect yourself and your child while you’re having fun under the sun this summer.
