The Best School Hacks For Mom

Oh, the joys of back to school! Kids don’t want summer to end so they have to go back to school and parents are bombarded with school shopping, lunches and homework. There is good news though and that good news comes in the form of school hacks. Here are some of the best school hacks parents need to know.

The Best School Hacks For Mom

Instant ice pack

There is an easy way for you to make your own ice packs to put in your child’s lunch. Just take a clean sponge, soak it in water and add it to a Ziploc bag. Throw the bag with the sponge into the freezer for a few hours for an instant ice pack.

Personalized backpack

You don’t have to spend a ton of money on a backpack for your child. Instead, purchase a plain, cheap backpack and personalize it yourself or have your child create his own unique backpack. All you need are some stencils and a little creativity.

Avoid brown apple slices

If your child loves apples and you like to pre-slice them to put in their lunchbox, you know how quickly they can turn brown. To solve this, slice the apple as you normally would and wrap the apple with a rubber band. The air won’t get to the apple and it will stay nice and fresh.

Make breakfast in a jiffy

Trying to get everyone up and out of the house on time on a school morning is not always an easy task for parents. To top it all off, breakfast seems to take the most time. Fix this problem by making a quick breakfast of bacon wrapped in pancakes. All you need is 8 slices of cooked bacon and 1 ½ cups of pancake mix. If you are using a pancake mix that calls for eggs and/or oil, you will need these items as well. Mix together the ingredients needed for the pancakes. Add a couple of slices of bacon to a hot, lightly greased griddle and then pour a small amount over the bacon slices, ensuring the slices are completely covered. Now, just cook it like you would a regular pancake.
