Well, those are long gone as parents attempt back to school shopping while staying budget conscious. Here is how to shop for back to school on a budget.

How To Shop For Back To School On A Budget

Shop Used

You don’t have to spend a ton of money on school supplies or clothing for the kids.

Your nearest thrift store or online used store like FlipSize more than likely has clothing for your kids that are in great condition, at a fraction of the price you would pay at a retail store.

Kids seem to outgrow clothes so fast these days, there really is no need to pay full price.

Heck, they may even have binders and folders for just pennies.

Check out Office Supply Stores, Warehouse Stores and Dollar Stores

Each of these three stores have the school supplies and other items you will need to send your kids back to school.

You may also be able to find really good deals at these stores since they aren’t usually the first place parents go for school supplies.

Dollar stores are great for things like tissues, unless you have several kids and need to buy in bulk.

In this case, the warehouse stores are your best bet.

Office supply stores often have rewards programs where you can earn points and save money on future purchases.

Shop Online

One great idea for shopping on a budget is to maximize your savings by shopping online.

Some stores will have promotions for things like ordering online and then picking the items up at your local store.

Also, there is a site called Ebates.com where you can get rebates on the stores you shop at online.

Shopping year round and not right when you NEED it will also help save money.

Buy Generic Brands

You don’t need to pay more money for brand name items when generic brands are just as good at a lower price.

It is possible to pay twice as much for a folder that has a superhero on it when compared to a plain, colored folder.

Purchase plain folders and plain notebook and have your children decorate their own with stickers and decals.
