Having a Blast At Splashdown Park - Tsawwassen, British Columbia

Being located in the Greater Vancouver area we are blessed with many fun and exciting ways to spend our summer. Competition is high, with only so many free days to fill during the school holiday.

Our kids love water and most of the summer is spent in it. Beaches, pools, waterparks and of course at least one trip to the waterslides.

Having a Blast At Splashdown Park – Tsawwassen, British Columbia

Take a look below to see what my boys (aka. The Quiet Ninjas) did while at Splashdown Park in sunny Tsawwassen, BC.

So what did we think of it?

For us, the location was easy to get to. It is located by the Vancouver Island Ferry Terminal, and less than 45 minutes from downtown Vancouver. Highway 17 gets you right there, just be careful of construction and maps that are not updated with the new information.

The changerooms are large and the showers are clean. It would be nice to have a family changeroom, but because I had my husband, it wasn’t a big deal this time.

The slides varied in size and speed. There were several toddler slides that my 2 year old loved. There were also many slides for my older boys (4, 6, 9).  I did take the plunge and went down The Black Hole. I screamed the whole way down, mostly to please my 9 year old who was on the double tube with me.

Likely the best feature of Splashdown was the fact that we were welcomed and encouraged to bring in our own food and beverages (non-alcoholic of course). Being the mom of 5, adding the cost of concession food to our admission and gas prices, typically doubles the cost of the adventure. They do have a concession, where we did enjoy HAND CUT french fries (I literally saw the staff member cut them!) and some nachos. I found the pricing reasonable and we enjoyed an afternoon snack before heading home. There are also BBQs available to rent by the hour.

Overall we had a great day. A couple things to keep in mind, is that due to the location, the temperature is colder than inland, so be sure to head there on a warm day. This also affects the water temperature. This is also a not wild and crazy waterslide park, which is great for us, but I understand wouldn’t be as thrilling for teenagers.

I would like to thank the YVR Bloggers who invited my family to spend the day at the park and to Splashdown Park for hosting our adventure.
