Lil Smokies Wrapped with Bacon
Makes 16 servings
These appetizers are very tasty because of the combination of bacon grease and brown sugar.
Ingredients:
1 pound of bacon, cut into thirds
1 14-ounce package of Lil Smokies
¾ cup of brown sugar
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Using 1/3 slice of bacon, wrap each of the Lil Smokies tightly and secure with a toothpick.
Add the wrapped Smokies onto a baking sheet and sprinkle with brown sugar.
Bake in the oven for 40-45 or until the brown sugar is bubbly.
Lil Smokies with Bourbon and Chili Sauce
Makes 10 servings
Lil Smokies, whiskey and chili sauce: Do I need to say more?
Ingredients:
5 14-ounce packages of Lil Smokies
2 ½ cups of bottled chili sauce
2 cups of bourbon whiskey
1 ¼ cup of brown sugar
2 ½ tablespoons of grated onions
Directions:
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine chili sauce, bourbon, brown sugar, onions and Lil Smokies.
Stir so that the Lil Smokies become well coated.
Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and simmer again for 1 hour.
Serve warm on a platter with toothpicks.
Lil Smokies with Chili Grape Sauce
Makes 9 servings
Grape sauce with a hint of chili makes some tasty appetizers.
Ingredients:
One 14-ounce package of Lil Smokies
12-ounce bottle of chili sauce
12-ounce jar of grape jelly
Directions:
In a slow cooker, add in the Lil Smokies. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine chili sauce and jelly and heat until jelly has melted, stirring occasionally.
Pour the mixture into the slow cooker, over the Lil Smokies.
Cover and cook on high for 2 hours.
