Get A Jump On Pollen This Allergy Season

I walked out to my car this past weekend and saw one of the worst things in the world in my opinion! Pollen! My pretty white car was blanketed with the dreadful stuff. It creeps around every year about this time and destroys my life for about three to four weeks! However, I recently discovered  few simple tips to help combat the pollen blues! Hopefully, you can find a few that will work for you if you suffer from pollen allergies.

7 Ways To Get A Jump On Pollen This Allergy Season

Air filtration.

Choose an air filter that has a small-particle or HEPA filter. Try adjusting your air filter so that it directs clean air toward your head when you sleep for a more restful night.

Keep windows, doors, and garage doors closed.

Check the latches, weather stripping, and thresholds to be sure that nothing unwanted is getting through to you. Don’t forget to keep the pet door closed when not in use!

Stay indoors as much as possible.

Especially in the morning when pollen counts are highest.  Windy days are days to stay inside. The Weather Channel app tells you what the daily pollen count is in your area and what type. You can also set the app to send you daily alert notifications.

Vacuum or sweep frequently.

Household dust can make the suffering much worse.

Wear protection.

If you have to be outside for a long period of time, you can use a pollen-filtering mask.

Wearing sunglasses can help keep pollen from getting into your eyes and making them water. If you wear contact lenses, consider wearing glasses to give your eyes a break during pollen season.

Landscaping can help.

If you know which type of pollen source affects you most, you can landscape your yard appropriately to get rid of any sources that exacerbate your symptoms.

I hope some of these suggestions help you allergy sufferers get through the awful pollen season! Let me know which one worked best for you!
