5 Things You Need to Know About Tires

Raise your hand if you think the tires on your vehicle are essential to owning a vehicle. Most people would probably agree with this statement because tires are literally what makes your car move. You need them for getting from point A to point B. However, most people don’t pay much attention to their tires until they come across an issue with them.

Here are a few things you need to know about tires.

Tires can be bought new or used

If you find yourself needing new tires, you should know that tires can be bought new and used. Sometimes tires are only on a vehicle for a short period of time and, therefore, can be sold as used tires. Used tires can be significantly cheaper than new tires, so keep this in mind when purchasing.

Tires need the correct air pressure

As crazy as it seems that your tires run on air, it’s a vital part of your safety while driving. You’ll need to ensure your tires are properly inflated to make sure the tires last a good length of time. Not to mention, proper air pressure also means you will get better gas mileage.

Tires need to be rotated

Just like every other piece of equipment on your vehicle, your tires also need proper TLC. Ensure your tires get rotated every 6-8,000 miles. Along with getting your tires rotated, you’ll also need to make sure they’re properly balanced. Balancing usually occurs whenever your tires are rotated or whenever you add a new tire to your vehicle.

Tires need to be aligned

One area that you should know about in the tire department is that they need to be aligned from time to time. Each wheel on your vehicle needs to be at a specific alignment setting. So, this isn’t a task that the average Joe can complete. You’ll want a professional to complete a tire alignment. Also, keep in mind that proper tire alignment makes sure your car drives straight and doesn’t go side-to-side.

Tires can go bad

When you purchase new tires, you probably think they’ll last forever. At least, that’s what you’re hoping. Tires can go bad and there’s no guarantee of when they’ll go out. With this in mind, you’ll want to check into making sure there is some sort of warranty on your tires. Considering a new set of tires can be pretty pricey, the last thing you want to do is miss out on a warranty.

Tires are an important part of your vehicle, so take care of them to the best of your ability. What would you want the world to know about tires? Also check out this post for all our tips for getting ready for spring.
