Attend a Free Park Concert

Play Classic Board Games

Family board game night is a favorite in many households.

Try some fun games kids will love like Chutes & Ladders, Monopoly and Yahtzee.

Engage in a Photography Project

Kids love to take pictures so have your kids pick a certain theme and then have them take photos throughout the summer.

They can use these photos to make a scrapbook or as a gift book for family.

Plan an Outdoor Movie Night

All you need is a movie projector and a large white sheet.

Invite the neighbors over and have a fun movie night with kid’s favorites like Frozen, Shark Tale, Finding Nemo and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Taste some Exotic Foods

You don’t have to travel cross country to try some exotic cuisine.

Try something that your kids haven’t had before like Thai food.

Before you head to the restaurant, find the country on a map and read about that country’s people and culture.

Watch Old Movies

While today’s kids movies are great, you just can’t beat the classics.

Grab some popcorn and curl up on the couch with the kids for a day of old movies.

You can watch classics like The Wizard of Oz, National Velvet and The Sound of Music.

Have a Picnic

Picnics are loads of fun and they don’t cost much either.

Just make some finger sandwiches and pack along with chips, fruit, trail mix and juice boxes.

Try some Backyard Camping

Why not pitch a tent in your backyard, drag out the unused air mattresses, cook some s’mores and tell scary ghost stories.

Take a tour of your area- Take the kids and walk around a neighborhood you have always wanted to explore.

Get into some Sports

Sports make for active families and are tremendously fun things to do with the kids.

Try a game of tennis, volleyball, Frisbee or disc golf.

If you and your kids are not into sports, you can still stay active during the summer by playing hide and seek or tag.
